What is AIRBAR?

AIRBAR is a highly visible inflatable vehicle mounted flexible membrane that, when deployed, helps to create a safety zone around the vehicle. It was designed specifically to help protect drivers and vulnerable road users (VRUs).

In addition to helping drivers and operators, the AIRBAR also helps vulnerable road users (VRUs), including pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists, by helping to create safer zones surrounding vehicles.

The Technology of AIRBAR

Manual Deployment

When a vehicle is stationary, the driver can activate AIRBAR from within the cab, which helps to create a safer and wider working zone for roadside workers in a live lane who are facing oncoming traffic.

Automatic Deployment

When the left turn indicator is activated, the nearside AIRBARS automatically deploy at less than 15 mph, providing a visible warning to cyclists or other VRUs.

Soft Safety Membrane

The AIRBAR is a brightly coloured inflatable flexible membrane.

Bright Flashing LEDs

A row of built-in flashing LEDs, when combined with the AIRBARS vividly coloured membrane, provides a very visible warning to other road users.

Inflatable System

AIRBARS use an exclusive air control technology that inflates using compressed air at low pressure and contains a rebound mechanism to recoil.

Selectable Deployment

When working beside a parked car, drivers can activate AIRBARS on the nearside, offside, or both to create a safer area.

Indicator Stalk Deployed

When a vehicle is travelling less than 15 mph, the nearside air bars automatically activate when the vehicle turns left at a junction by activating the left indicator stalk.
