Road worker accidents have increased, despite the fact that traffic is safer and the number of injuries is at its lowest point in more than 40 years. Maintaining employee safety is a difficult but necessary task.
Roadside worker injuries and fatalities are mostly caused by contact with construction equipment and vehicles.
A moving vehicle is involved in the majority of incidents (55% of which happen inside the work zone), many of which have large driver blind spots.
